Free check for B2B teams

Free CTPS check for UK business numbers

Check a company switchboard or direct dial against the Corporate TPS before your team calls it. The same lookup also checks the TPS, where many small business numbers sit.

Mobile or landline, with or without the +44. The number is not stored.

Three checks a day without signing in, or 25 a day while signed in to a free TPSClear account.

13,468,654 numbers on the TPS register and 1,077,326 on the CTPS register. File dated 15 October 2026, reloaded daily.

Who the CTPS covers

Corporate subscribers put their numbers on the CTPS. They include limited companies and LLPs, public bodies such as councils, NHS trusts and government departments, and schools, colleges and universities. Regulation 2 of PECR also counts a partnership in Scotland as a corporate subscriber, so its numbers belong on the CTPS.

Why a B2B list needs both registers

Sole traders are individual subscribers under PECR, wherever in the UK they trade. Their working numbers belong on the TPS, so a plumber or a freelance consultant on your prospect list is a TPS question. Partnerships in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are individual subscribers too, so their numbers belong on the TPS. A screen that only looks at the CTPS misses all of these numbers, which is why this page reports on both registers for every number you enter.

Switchboards and direct dials

An organisation can put its switchboard on the CTPS, along with direct dials, departmental lines and the business mobiles it pays for. A direct dial can still sit on the TPS instead: a director's own mobile, used for work, often does. You cannot tell from the number which register applies, so check each direct dial on its own. Switchboards are less likely to be registered, but smaller firms often register theirs, so check them too.

The 28-day rule for business numbers

A new CTPS registration applies to your calls 28 days after it is made, under PECR regulation 21(3). A switchboard that was clean when your list was built in January can be listed by March. Check business numbers again within 28 days of the last check, and once more just before a campaign or cadence starts.

What a CTPS-listed result means for your sales team

A CTPS-listed number cannot take an unsolicited live marketing call from you unless that business has given you prior, specific consent. PECR makes no general carve-out for business-to-business calls, and since 5 February 2026 the maximum fine is £17.5 million or 4% of global turnover. In practice, mark the record so reps skip it, keep the date of the check, and if the business does agree to your calls, record who agreed, when and for what.

Where the CTPS data comes from

We are licensed by the DMA as a TPS and CTPS list cleaner. Each result on this page is read from the register files we receive under that licence, loaded every day.

Screen every company and contact number in your CRM

TPSClear checks company and contact numbers in HubSpot and Zoho against both registers whenever they change, and the REST API and Zapier run on the same engine.
